The Fibre Optic Cable (FOC) is the backbone of the data and telecommunication system. Data from the pumping stations is automatically transfered through the FOC to the Main Control Centre (MCC) in Khartoum where it is transfered to the SCADA system to be displayed on monitors and overhead projectors in the control room.

Radio traffic from the Trunked Radio System is sent through the FO backbone to any other user along the total length of the pipeline. All Trunk Radio calls, including local calls, are recorded at the MCC for possible future interogation.
The Trunked Radio System is designed according to MPT1327 Trunked Private Land Mobile Radio Systems Standard. The supplied system has 4 (four) dynamic radio channels at each station.
Through out the project, strict Quality Control measures were followed including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and Site Performance Periods.
